A reclusive gemcutter from Germany who, nonetheless, lives in Livorno now. He hates it here. It's too hot, and the people! The people talk far too much. What do they even want? What do you want? Go on, off with you. Don't waste an old man's time.

Raimund isn't fond of people. Well okay, he likes Donzelle Agnello, he's like the son he never had, and he likes little Donnie's father, but how many friends could a man really need? One is perfectly fine. Raimund has no interest in other people beyond the few he's decided he likes, and social situations largely get on his nerves. He enjoys his work and does it well, which is for the best considering his customer service leaves a fair bit to be desired.
Past
Raimund has never been a terribly social man, and so when he finally did find a friend, he had no qualms about picking up shop and moving to Italy so they could hang out sometimes. And when that friend had a son, he was fully expecting to find the child as dreadful as everyone else. But to his surprise and delight, Donzelle was an especially lovable boy who he was proud to have as a godson. He gladly allowed Donzelle access to his stonecutting workshop and taught him the trade, and was only a little bit awkward with shooting down the various uncomfortable advances Donzelle made on him over the years.
Present
Everything around Raimund changes a great deal, and far faster than he cares for. As for him, he'll stay just the same, thank you very much. He's largely unchanged but for slightly more gray hairs among blonde. The only thing about him that's really truly changed is that he's far lonelier than he ever thought he could be, now that the son who wasn't really his son is gone. The sadness was quiet but pervasive, and it's as constant as the rest of him. Neither he nor Donzelle's parents ever found out exactly what happened, just that one day Donnie and his pretty young wife were missing, and they were never found. Raimund remains close with Donzelle's father, but it's not really the same, even if he tries to be. One friend is enough. After all, how many could a man really need?
DONZELLE AGNELLO [ Sonboy ]
Raimund doesn't really know what it'd be like to have
a son, but Donnie is close enough for him. A delightful boy, if a little
misguided as a child, and one of only two people Raimund has ever felt a
real affection for.
DONZELLE'S DAD [ Best Friend ]
Raimund's only real friend. He's not extraordinary, not really. But something about him just fits well. Raimund has never regarded him as annoying or unpleasant, and his words and thoughts never felt trite. He is simply pleasant to be around, and he makes Raimund happy.
